Attendance Policies
Arrival and Dismissal Procedures
The Kindergarten school day begins at 8:00 AM. Students who arrive prior to 8:00 will need to sit in the Kindergarten hallway along the wall designated for our class (there is a monkey hanging on our class’ designated wall). Students will be released to our classroom at the 8:00 bell.
Begindergarten and Kindergarten students are released at 3:20 PM. All students will need to be picked up from the Kindergarten door (door O), unless otherwise specified. Students who ride the Ideal bus, Housing bus, Transit bus, or attend OST will be taken to they South gym doors. Please send a written note or an email to let me know if your child will be picked up differently than specified. If you will be picking your child up early from school, please send a signed and dated note to school. This will ensure that there is adequate time to prepare work that your child will be missing.

Attendance and Illness
Regular school attendance is critical to the learning process. Our school day officially starts at 8:00 a.m. when students are released to their classrooms. We begin morning work immediately while taking attendance, lunch count, and saying the Pledge.
If your child will be absent, please try to call or send a note to school in advance; however, if that is not possible (due to emergencies or illness), please call the office or send a note explaining the absence. A note or phone call is required for an excused absence. Remember that classroom activities are an important aspect of your child's school day. Some activities cannot be made up at home; therefore, school attendance is highly important.
Even though we value your child’s attendance, it is important to keep your child at home if they are ill. When children come to school sick, they are not learning to their best potential. I would rather have a student miss one day while they are sick than have many students catch germs and all miss school.
