Behavior Policies
Our classroom expectations are based on Whole Brain Teaching Philosophy, as well as Love and Logic and Warrior PRIDE. Whole Brain Teaching creates an environment of mutual respect, allowing everyone to participate. The Love and Logic philosophy enables teachers and students to share control and decision-making while improving self-concept, behavior, and achievement for each student. It empowers students to learn from their mistakes and gain responsibility over their own choices.
Our Classroom Rules
1. Follow directions quickly.
2. Raise your hand before speaking.
3. Raise your hand for permission to leave your seat.
(Hand Signals)
4. Make smart choices.
5. Keep our dear team stronger.
*Golden Rule*
Treat others as you want to be treated.

Class Dojo
This year, I will be using an online classroom management tool called “Class Dojo.” This is an important tool as we venture into adding more digital learning in our classroom! There are three key components to Class Dojo: Communication, Student Portfolios, and Points. Be sure to download the FREE app and get connected to our class! |
Communication:
Class Dojo offers two great communication features. With "Class Story," I can share information with everyone connected to our class. It works like a Facebook or Instagram feed, allowing me to post pictures, schedule reminders, and share important information. Families that are connected can comment on the Story posts, too! There is also a Direct Messenger feature that allows parents and I to communicate privately. Its as simple as a sending a quick text message!

Student Portfolios:
We are all striving to add more 21st century digital learning elements in our classrooms this year. Student Portfolios is a great way to start! As the teacher, I can assign tasks for students to complete in Portfolio. These tasks could include taking a photo, video, or completing an attached worksheet. Students can respond right in the Dojo app on their iPads! I can also share links to other activities in our Google Classroom. The links will take the student directly to the activity.

Points:
Students can be awarded points for demonstrating positive behaviors and following our classroom rules. Students may add a neutral/negative point after 2 reminders about a listed behavior. These points are given as a way to track progress on behavior goals.
